Bersej orchard

Family-run farm with orchard in the Bersej region in Sostegno, a small provincial village, known since the 1800s, as an excellent place for the production of fruit and vegetables.
The fruit and vegetables are grown naturally and processed within a few days of harvesting in the farm’s laboratory.

The main product is apple vinegar, made from naturally grown indigenous apples. The vinegar, pressed from the whole fruit, is ready after about 6 months with the various steps. With vinegar, compotes are prepared, all seasonal to be used in combination with cheeses. The latest addition is the Mantova mustard, with home-grown quinces, to be used only for meat.

The other products are elderflower syrup, dandelion flower jam and jelly, always seasonal fruit juices, sweet and sour cherries, courgettes and cucumbers always in sweet and sour, herbal teas with home-grown herbs, Canestrelli di Crevacuore with semi-wholemeal flour of own production.

The company is part of the “Amici dello Zafferano di Coggiola” group, with its own production of saffron and apple vinegar with saffron, apple jelly always with saffron.

The company has been part of the SLOW FOOD group since 2012, with which it shares ideas and visions of intent.

Since 2019 the farm is also a Home restaurant.
Tastings are organized on a monthly basis at the Casa del Frutteto, offering the opportunity to taste traditional and non-traditional dishes, consisting only of ingredients from the farm and other local producers.
