The history of the Foresteria is intrinsically linked to that of the Marian Shrine of Banchette, adjacent to the structure.
Welcoming foreigners and pilgrims was already documented in the 18th century.
In December 2018, the Foresteria opened to the public as a restaurant, managed by chef Andrea Brenna, a chef and restaurant entrepreneur, assisted by his wife and brother.
The restaurant is beautifully located overlooking the plain and boasts a large outdoor area for summer lunch, while the indoor dining rooms seat about sixty.
A “works menu” is also offered for lunch, while in the evenings, pizzas, focaccias, and calzones are also available.
Every evening, from Thursday to Sunday, the Pizza Speciale is offered: the menu includes both classic and gourmet pizzas, with delicious combinations. The bread, breadsticks, fresh pasta, and desserts are all homemade.
The wine list features around 300 labels from various Italian regions, with a significant presence of French wines. La Foresteria offers catering services and also serves as a wine shop.
Guests with gluten intolerances can request gluten-free dough, provided they kindly provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
